For the 94th anniversary of adopting the first constitution and proclaiming the country as a republic, Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold and Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh and authorities and members of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) laid wreaths at the statue of D.Sukhbaatar and paid tribute to the statue of Chinggis Khaan. Deputy PM U.Enkhtuvshin, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar as well as representatives of the members of the State Great Khural were present at the ceremony. 94 years ago, on November 26, 1994, the first State Great Khural passed the first constitution. With the first constitution in effect, Mongolia transitioned from a monarchy to a republic. For the first time in Asia Mongolia has regulated the law of the right of citizens voting thus making men and women of having equal right. Therefore the significance of Mongolians celebrating this historic day has been very important throughout our history. The tradition of celebrating Mongolia’s independence has been carried through centuries however since 2012 it has been considered as a national holiday.
